Who is Damara Lynn Greene?

Currently she hosts as well as sings on the weekly ‘Nick Ashford’s Nuttin’ But the Blues’ Show at the world renowned club and restaurant Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar, and is featured on the weekly long running Open Mic Show. Prior to her hosting duties there, Ms. Greene could be found touring the world as a backing vocalist to Ashford and Simpson for their live performances.

"I've always loved the blues, ever since I was a kid. It has a depth to it that a lot of contemporary music doesn't have. It has pain and suffering in it, but funny stories, too. And it is built on storytelling, which is something I really love."

Damara has built quite the following being featured on the front page of The New York Times Style Section, in New York Times Magazine, Essence Magazine, Washington Living Magazine, Federated Stores Magazine, Vogue on line and Vanity Fair on line. She appeared in New Music Express Video of the Week UK with Tyrese Gibson, Clinique Perfect Consultant and Andre’ Leon Talley’s Company Freak. As one of the famed Gaslight Girls Damara is proud to be one of only eight African American Gaslight Girls in the world.

When not in front of the curtain, she is displaying talents behind the scenes with makeup credits for television such as  WHUTV Evening Exchange, Common Sense, and Howard Perspectives. Her prowess as a make-up artist have been displayed on staage as well for the likes of The Manhattans, SWV, Chante Savage, Yvette Michelle, and Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis.

Damara studied Theatre at Fisk University, Howard University and is a member of SAG/AFTRA.
